Stainless steel is not a single specification. Alloy, seam design, wall thickness, flexibility, insulation and warranty approval must match the fuel and appliance. A complete system also includes listed connectors, supports, top plates, terminations and transitions.

System options

Stainless Steel Chimney Liners options and specifications

The correct specification depends on the existing chimney, connected appliance, access, fuel, moisture exposure and the conditions documented during inspection.

01

304 stainless steel

Best forMany listed wood and standard gas applications

A widely used alloy where the liner listing specifically approves the appliance and fuel.

02

316 or 316Ti stainless steel

Best forOil, coal, wood and multi-fuel use

Provides greater resistance to corrosive flue byproducts and is frequently chosen for demanding installations.

03

AL29-4C stainless steel

Best forSpecific high-efficiency vent systems

A specialized alloy used only as part of an appliance-approved venting system designed for corrosive condensate.

04

Rigid or heavy-wall construction

Best forStraight routes or demanding solid-fuel use

The construction style is chosen for access, durability, cleaning method and the manufacturer-approved application.

What to look for

When to consider stainless steel chimney liners

  • A durable multi-fuel liner is required
  • The existing flue is unlined or deteriorated
  • Corrosive oil or condensate damage is present
  • A new stove or insert needs a listed connection
What the scope can include

A complete written scope

  1. Alloy and wall-type selection
  2. Diameter and height sizing
  3. Insulation and clearance strategy
  4. Listed fittings, supports and termination
How the work moves

Our service process

  1. Inspect the accessible system and confirm the source of the problem
  2. Document measurements, materials, appliance information and site conditions
  3. Explain repair or replacement options in a clear written scope
  4. Protect the property and complete the selected work to the agreed specification
  5. Perform final checks and provide available completion photos
From selection to final review

A clear project path, with expectations in writing.

01

Inspection & documentation

We inspect accessible conditions, take measurements and document the parts of the system that shape your repair or installation options.

02

System options & written scope

You receive practical material and system choices, a defined scope of work and clear exclusions where hidden conditions may exist.

03

Contract, deposit & scheduling

Once you select your system:

  • We sign a clear, written contract
  • A 30% deposit is collected
  • We schedule your project
04

Installation & progress documentation

We protect the work area, install the approved scope and document important conditions and completed details as the project moves forward.

05

Cleanup & final inspection

We clean the property thoroughly. Most exterior construction sites are approximately 90-99% clean the same day. For qualifying multi-day masonry and exterior projects, our next-day closeout can include:

  • A final inspection
  • An additional magnetic sweep
  • Final drone photos when conditions and location allow
  • A complete quality-control review

Exact payment milestones, closeout steps and return visits are stated in the written contract for the selected project.

Service questions

Details worth understanding.

Final specifications depend on the inspected conditions, appliance listing, selected manufacturer and applicable local requirements.

Is 316Ti always better than 304?+

It is more corrosion-resistant for certain fuels, but the correct choice is the alloy approved for the exact appliance, fuel and liner system.

Does stainless steel eliminate maintenance?+

No. The system still needs inspection, appropriate cleaning and correction of moisture or combustion problems.
